Quarantined

A lot of kids don't have the resources at home to help them with their school work. Their parents are at work and they are home alone to get sidetracked. If you randomly pull a kid out of class and throw them into captivity with no one around to communicate, they aren't going to get much done. According to Goodwin University, “Inevitably, you will find more distractions at home than you will in a classroom environment”. Kids will find every way to procrastinate throughout the day. Also said by Goodwin University, “The autonomy that students receive in an online school can also be intimidating for those who lack self-motivation or time management skills”. Many children don't have the right mindset to be left alone all day, especially without any time to prepare for it. 2020 was a depressing time for us all and it is quite possible that quarantining will send them back into a depressive state. They will be cut off from their everyday life and friends, leaving them laying in bed all day instead of doing their Geometry homework. I also think it is unfair to justify quarantining if, given the example of being in contact with someone who was in close contact with covid. Here is Megan Bradley: “When I got quarantined it wasn't fun, it was kind of difficult to keep up with my work.” Megan struggled to successfully complete her work during quarantine. The school has a very unfair advantage over the kids and their personal lives. We need to figure out a way to safely and efficiently protect the health of the children around us. Preferably one that doesn’t risk them relapsing back into depressive episodes. Another interview we've acquired is Robert Collier, “I fell a little behind during quarantine, but I think that it was kind of necessary so we don't spread covid.” Robert also fell behind during quarantine but he believes it is necessary so that kids don't spread covid when they are exposed. Overall there is much controversy about this topic and many different opinions; in the end this is about safely and effectively protecting the kids.
