ATLANTA-- The Ole Miss Rebels faced off against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on September 17th, 2022, gaining a comfortable win. Less than 90 seconds into the game, running back Zach Evans capped off a five play, 74 yard drive with a three yard rushing touchdown. After a quick three-and-out, Ole Miss’ defensive end Cedric Johnson blocked the punt, giving the Rebels excellent field position. Running back Quinshon Judkins finished the drive with a seven yard rushing touchdown. A few drives later, a missed field goal by Ole Miss gave Georgia Tech good field position. A 38 yard pass from quarterback Jeff Sims to wide receiver Malik Rutherford put the Jackets in the red zone. After four unsuccessful downs, Ole Miss got the ball back. Georgia Tech linebacker Ayinde Eley sacked Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart, leading to a punt that was nearly blocked by Tech. A few drives later, Zach Evans rushed for a 26 yard touchdown to make the game 21-0 Rebels. Just before halftime, with the Rebels in the red zone looking to extend their lead, defensive back Jaylon King intercepted Jaxson Dart. Tech elects to let the clock run out on the half, which causes many of the home fans to boo the team off the field.

Georgia Tech started out the second half with the ball, but again the Jackets could not get anything going. Quinshon Judkins scored his second touchdown of the game to make it 28-0. This was the first of three touchdowns for the Rebels in the third quarter, with running back Ulysses Bentley IV rushing for two more. The Jackets ended the fourth quarter having given up zero touchdowns, ending the game at 42-0.

The Georgia Tech O-Line had no match for the run defense of Ole Miss. The Jackets rushed for just 53 yards on 34 attempts. Starter running back Dontae Smith rushed just five times for 22 yards. On the flip side, Tech had no way to stop the Rebels on the ground, rushing for 316 yards on the ground alone. Zach Evans, Quinshon Judkins, and Ulysses Bentley IV rushed for two touchdowns each. Ole Miss did not score a passing touchdown in the game.
