Zach Evans, a Defensive Coordinator’s Worst Nightmare

By: Daniel Poe

Zach Evans, a Texas-born running back for the Ole Miss Rebels, lives up to the saying, “Everything is bigger in Texas.” Standing at 6’0 and weighing 215, this junior from Ole Miss delivers the perfect strength and speed for the running back role. Saturday, September 17th, Evans demonstrated his physical abilities by putting up outrageous numbers against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Running in for two touchdowns and 135 yards, he was untouchable by the Georgia Tech defense. Also, with an average of 7.4 yards per carry, he was a first down machine for Ole Miss.

This team also had many other lethal rushing weapons on their offense. One example being running back Quinshon Judkins. Judkins had 19 touches and rushed for 105 yards in the game’s start. He also ran in for two touchdowns with an average of 5.2 yards per carry. Another notable player for Ole Miss was running back Ulysses Bentley Ⅳ who ran in for two touchdowns.

In summary, Ole Miss’ running backs ran for a total of 349 yards and six touchdowns against Georgia Tech. With this much of a dominant performance, Ole Miss Coach Lane Kiffin is definitely feeling good about his team's rushing ability.
