Week two of High School football kicks off this Friday, September 2nd, with the Mauldin Mavericks taking on the Powdersville Patriots. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. on Freeman Field, and the turnout is expected to be large. Mauldin won their first away game 20-7 against Boiling Springs. This victory was achieved with touchdowns from running back Kelvin Johnson and wide receiver Barrett Swedin. Meanwhile, Powdersville has rallied a 2-0 record so far this year, following their 51-44 triumph at Abbeville. The high-scoring Patriots are averaging 49 points per game, which is significantly higher than the Mavs’ 20. Following their first round exit out of the playoffs last year, the Mavericks are looking to get off to a great start this new season. Good luck to both teams!
