Greenville County Alumni Hits the Runway

Just like any other hobby, fashion showcases the creativity and characteristics of a person. Fashion Month 2022 has been a huge success this year with brands such as Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Sacai, Bottega Veneta, Alexander McQueen, and Junya Wantanabe headlining some of their notorious collections and apparel. Fashion Month is usually twice a year, one in February and one in September, to show Spring, Summer, Winter and Fall collections. The five main events are held in The Paris Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week and Arab Fashion Week. The most recent Fashion Week event was held in New York from September 8th-12, 2022. 

This past week, model and Eastside alumni Davin Brunson appeared walking for the brand Tommy Hilfiger, showcasing some of their Winter collection. When asked about his experience modeling, specifically for Tommy Hilfiger, Brunson claimed, “It was crazy, I never really planned on modeling. Modeling has just came about, so just the fact that I got to go out and do that was just crazy to me. I had a bunch of fun.” Also, when asked how he was able to model for such a big brand, Brunson stated, “Basically, what happened was my agent reached out to me and was like, ‘Hey, New York Fashion Week is coming up, we’ll probably need you out here a week beforehand so that you can show up, and go to castings, and do photoshoots for photographers.’” 

Brunson shared some great details about how this all came together for him, and the advice he wished he had known, “I wish I knew how easy it was really. I wish I would've started a long time ago, also, like, I didn’t know it was a whole experience, like, everything you do within it is an experience.”

During this week, Brunson was seen in a golden Cuban linked styled chain and a blue, green and white striped colored polo with the traditional black and burgundy Tommy Hilfiger logo. Along with these pieces, he wore a navy blue and green flannel patterned overcoat with matching pajama style pants. With this look, not only was Brunson on a main walkway for the event, but also featured in Vogue Magazine. 

However, Brunson’s amazing experience did not end there. After being asked about some celebrities he has met, Brunson shared, “Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, a basketball player for the Oklahoma City Thunder, he was there and a couple of the Kardashians were there, and they're big so that was crazy. But Shai Gilgeous, that was crazy for me because he’s been a big inspiration to me for a long time, so seeing him was really dope and knowing he was there to watch me was really cool.”
